Gundar, Gond or Gondh is an edible gum that is sourced from plant gums derived from the Middle Eastern legume or acacia plants. This gum producing plants are found in the Middle East, Rajasthan, Punjab and parts of Gujarat. It is tasteless and odorless.
Edible gum is considered to be a warming food and helps generate heat in the body. Thus it usually eaten in the cold weather of winter months. Some research also says that it helps in bone strengthening and thus recommended during pregnancy and lactation.
As per Ayurveda, gond (Gundar) is known to boost stamina and health, helping one keep away from falling sick due to cold and cough. It also is known to treat low Vitamin D levels in the body. As the ladoos help lubricate the joints, they are extremely powerful to reduce back pain as well as other joint pains
